How to check a Missouri cannabis license
Look the dispensary up in the Division of Cannabis Regulation’s (DCR) licensed facility list before you buy. A dispensary license number starts with DIS (or MBD for a microbusiness dispensary). If you can’t find the dispensary, or the list says it can’t operate yet, don’t buy there.

1. Search DCR’s licensed facility list
Legal sales in Missouri happen only at dispensaries licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services.2 DCR keeps a dashboard of every active licensee on its Licensed Facilities page.1
- Go to DCR’s licensed facility list .
- Search by license number, business name, trade name (DBA) or phone number. For dispensaries you can also filter by city and ZIP code.1
- Check that the name and address match the store’s sign or website. Dispensaries show their address in the list.1
- Check the ATO (approval to operate) status. The list includes licensees that can’t operate yet and marks them. If it says the business can’t operate, don’t buy there.1
DCR updates the list once a month with the previous month’s data, so a brand-new dispensary may not show up yet.1 If you’re not sure, call DCR at 1-866-219-0165 , 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central, Monday to Friday.1
At the store, DCR says to look for its “We’re on the List” decal in the window or a state license inside. The decal’s QR code opens DCR’s map of licensed dispensaries.1 Store workers carry agent ID cards. You can check one by scanning the QR code on the back.3
2. If you order delivery
- Only licensed dispensaries that DCR has OK’d for delivery may deliver. A licensed transportation business may deliver for a dispensary.2
- If you pay at the door, a dispensary may deliver to no more than two people at the same address that day.2
- Curbside pickup is not allowed. Drive-through windows are allowed only where DCR has OK’d them.2
- Adults may buy up to 3 ounces of dried marijuana, or its equivalent, in one sale.6
3. Check the label and keep the package
A licensed product’s label shows a license number that starts with MAN, CUL, DIS, MBW, MBD or TES. These numbers name the licensed business that grew, made or tested it. You can look them up in the same list.1
The package should be child-resistant and show the word “marijuana” and Missouri’s red-and-white THC symbol. The label lists the testing lab’s license number, a testing tag number, a “best if used by” date and the warning “Keep out of reach of children.”4
DCR recall notices list the recalled products. If you have one, stop using it and throw it away or return it to the dispensary.5 Keep the package so you can match it. See DCR’s recall notices .
Hemp and smoke shops are different
Delta-8, delta-10, THCA and similar products sold at gas stations, convenience stores and smoke shops are not regulated by DCR. They have not been tested by a licensed marijuana lab.2 A 2026 state law says that from November 12, 2026, hemp-derived cannabinoid products may be made and sold only by DHSS-licensed businesses. It also bars other businesses from calling themselves a “dispensary.”7
If something doesn’t look right
You can report a problem with a licensed facility or a product with DCR’s online complaint form. Send each complaint separately and include everything you know.8 DCR also takes reports of bad reactions at CannabisComplaints@health.mo.gov. If a reaction is life-threatening, get medical help right away.5
