Draft for counsel review — not yet in effect. This is a working draft. Counsel has not reviewed it and CHSA’s board has not adopted it, so it does not yet bind CHSA or anyone else.

Our commitment

We design and test this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not yet completed a full audit, so we don’t claim full conformance. When we do, we will publish the date and the results here.

What we build in

These are design rules for every page. If you find a page that breaks one, please tell us.

  • Emergency help and Poison Help are linked from the top of every page, and the emergency page works without JavaScript.
  • Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Buttons and links are at least 24 by 24 pixels.
  • The header does not stick to the top of small screens, so it never covers what you are focused on.
  • Help links appear in the same place and order on every page.
  • Status is never shown by color alone. Alerts and warnings also use an icon and words.
  • Text and controls meet WCAG contrast minimums.
  • Pages reflow at 400% zoom without sideways scrolling, except for data tables.
  • We respect “reduce motion” and Windows high-contrast (forced colors) settings.
  • Maps and charts always come with a table or text version, and nothing requires dragging.
  • We don’t use accessibility overlay widgets.

How we test

  • Automated accessibility checks run on every change to the site’s code. They use axe-core, set to the WCAG 2.2 level A and AA rules. They cover every page we build ahead of time at desktop size, and our home and emergency pages on a small phone screen.
  • Automated tools can’t find every barrier. An independent audit has not been done yet. When one is, we will publish the date and what it found.

Known problems

We don’t know of any barriers on this site right now. If you find one, please tell us. We will list known problems here, with our plan to fix them.

Some pages link to government and third-party websites. We can’t fix barriers on those sites, but we will tell the owner if you let us know.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site doesn’t work for you, or you need information in another format, contact our Accessibility team at . Please tell us the page address and what happened.

  • 5 Business days to respond To every accessibility report.
  • 30 Days to fix Our target for fixing a reported barrier, or telling you why we can’t yet.

We log every accessibility report and what we did about it. If the barrier blocks safety information, we will give you the information another way while we fix it.
