About these terms

These terms apply to the website at cannabishealthandsafety.org, run by the Cannabis Health & Safety Alliance, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation (“CHSA,” “we”). By using the site, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

Not medical or legal advice

  • Our content is general information. It is not medical advice and doesn’t replace a doctor, pharmacist or poison control.
  • It is not legal advice. Laws change, and how they apply depends on your situation.
  • We are not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911. For a possible poisoning, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

Not a regulator

CHSA is not a regulator and does not certify products. Not medical advice. In an emergency, call 911.

CHSA does not test, certify or endorse products or retailers. When we link to a license lookup or a recall, the regulator’s own site is the official record. License status can change at any time, so always confirm it there.

Accuracy and corrections

We work to keep every page accurate and dated, and we correct mistakes in public. Even so, information can be incomplete or out of date. Check the date and sources on each page. If you find an error, please tell us.

Using our content

You may share links to any page. Text written by CHSA is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). That means you may copy, share and adapt it, for any purpose, as long as you credit CHSA, link to the page and the license, and say if you made changes.

The license does not cover CHSA’s name, logo or other trademarks, or material from other sources, such as regulator notices, quotes, photos and data. That material belongs to its owners.

Please keep dates, sources and caveats with anything you reuse, so it isn’t misleading.

Our name

You may not use CHSA’s name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse, certify or approve a product, a store, a brand or a person. Businesses may not use our name, content, alerts or “supporter” status in their marketing, packaging or signs.

Acceptable use

When you use this site, please don’t:

  • pretend to be CHSA, or create fake CHSA alerts, emails or pages;
  • try to break into, overload or disrupt the site;
  • copy the site with automated tools in a way that harms its performance;
  • use the site to break the law.

Genuine CHSA alerts

Every safety alert we issue is listed in our alert ledger. If an alert isn’t listed there, it isn’t from us.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

We provide this site and everything on it “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties, express or implied, about the site or its content. That includes any warranty that it is accurate, complete, current, fit for a particular purpose or free of errors, or that the site will always be available or free of viruses.

To the fullest extent the law allows, CHSA and its directors, staff, volunteers and reviewers are not liable for any loss or harm that comes from using, or not being able to use, this site or the sites it links to. This includes indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. You are responsible for your own decisions about cannabis, your health and the law.

Some laws don’t allow some of these limits. Where that is the case, these limits apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms limits any right you have that can’t be waived by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about these terms or this site will be decided in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and CHSA agree to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If a court finds part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. Questions: email hello@cannabishealthandsafety.org.
