How to check a Maryland cannabis dispensary
Look the dispensary up in the Maryland Cannabis Administration’s (MCA) Dispensary Locator before you buy. The name and address should match the store. If you can’t find it, don’t buy there.

1. Find the dispensary in the MCA’s list
The MCA says licensed dispensaries are the only place to buy cannabis legally in Maryland.1 Its Dispensary Locator lists them.2
- Go to the MCA’s Dispensary Locator .
- Search by dispensary name, street, ZIP code or county. The list filters as you type.2
- Check that the name and address match the store’s sign or website.
- For delivery, check that the business is listed and serves your region. Delivery-only businesses are marked, and each may deliver only within its assigned region.2
The locator shows each dispensary’s name, county and address. It does not show license numbers or license status.2 If the store isn’t on the list, don’t buy there.
2. At the store or for delivery
- Licensed dispensaries display an MCA sticker with a QR code. The MCA says to scan it to check the store.2 Only MCA-licensed businesses may display the MCA’s logo.3
- Staff must check a government photo ID that shows you are 21 or older, or that you are a registered patient or caregiver.4
- A dispensary may not sell you more than the personal use amount in one day: 1.5 ounces of flower, 12 grams of concentrate, or 750 mg of THC in other products, as a combined limit.5
- Through June 30, 2027, standard dispensaries and registered delivery services may deliver only to registered patients and caregivers. Micro dispensaries, once they are operating, may also deliver to adults 21 and older.5
3. Check the label and keep the package
Licensed products carry Maryland’s universal THC symbol, the lot number, warnings, the Maryland Poison Center number, and a QR code or link to the lab’s certificate of analysis.6 The MCA says products without this information may come from unlicensed sources with untested contents.7
Lot numbers can be used in recalls.7 In a September 2025 recall, the MCA listed each affected product by dispensary, dates of sale and tracking (METRC) number.8 Keep the package so you can match it. See the MCA’s notices, including recalls .
Hemp and CBD shops are different
A hemp or CBD shop is not an MCA-licensed dispensary. Products you eat or inhale with more than 0.5 mg of THC per serving or 2.5 mg per package, including delta-8 and delta-10 THC, may be sold only by MCA licensees, and never to anyone under 21.9 The MCA works with the state’s Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission (ATCC) to act against unlicensed sellers.10
If something doesn’t look right
Use the MCA’s Report an Incident form to report a problem with a licensed business or product, or a bad reaction after using a cannabis product.11
To report a store or product that isn’t licensed, use the ATCC’s tip and complaint form .12
